Oatmeal Pancakes with Collagen

My goal this year is to reverse my age improve my health not only on the inside but on the outside as well. One of the things I started doing this year is taking Collagen supplements. When I say collagen, your probably thinking plump lips. Come on, yes you did. But no, I'm not talking about movie star style lip "injections" of collagen. I'm talking about a different kind of collagen.

I'm adding collagen powders to my coffee or drinks and sometime in my foods. That's why I wanted to show you these delicious pancakes I made using only three ingredients: oatmeal, applesauce and an one egg. Then I just added my flavorless collagen powder into the mix as my own preferenc.

Collagen is a protein that is crucial to supporting hair, skin and nails. It will improve your skin by reducing dryness and wrinkles (This is where I sign up). Not only does collagen work for your outside appearance, it may also increase muscle mass, relieve joint pain and prevent bone loss. I read that it could actually cause weight loss if taken 30 minutes before a meal. It will make you feel full and you will not want to eat so much. I'm in! (Source)

Our body naturally produces collagen every day, but as we grow older, it slows down. That's when we start getting wrinkly and our hair, skin and nails lose strength and glow. I should start seeing results in 4-6 weeks according to the info I've' read.

* My friend Hazel said "It's amazing how ground up cow bones can have so many awesome benefits!" haha gotta love her! (Source)

Now back to the pancakes. You can just leave the collagen out. I mean, some of you don't have hair or wrinkles anyway, so.....

These pancakes are a healthier option to the ones mom makes. So do not expect them to be as good as Aunt Jamima's, or Hungry Jack's because they are not. However, they are better for ya.... I think..

Oatmeal Pancakes
Makes 4 (serving size 2)
130 calories and 5 grams of protein per serving

This container of collagen was given to me
by my sweet friend Hazel to try before I buy.

such as Walmart, Target and Amazon.

  1. I make those pancakes for myself, too-minus the collagen powder. They are part of the old, old WW recipes. LOL...I also have recipe for mini-loaves of bread that contain all your ingredients for a healthy start to the day. I haven't made them in a while but think I need to do that again. xo Diana

  2. Keep us posted, let us know it does for you!

  3. I was reading this this morning and had to leave for church. I have been thinking about it. sounds good, but we probably would not fix them, seldom do pancakes.

However what is this statement about some of you don't have hair?? hahaha It is too late for the collagen to help the hair or wrinkles, unless I can find a formula that is retroactive. Ha ha. BUT the pictures made my mouth water, good on you,
    Beautiful day in Florida,
    Sherry & jack

  4. I've never heard of collagen powder but it does sound like it will be a good thing. It may be a little late for me to try it though.....
Good for you in starting young!

  5. I'm guilty of not knowing what collagen is. I was curious...a collagen pancake...rub it on or eat it? LOL

I'm going to try this! I've ground oatmeal into flour for chocolate chip cookies, which is delicious. And I'm going to order some collagen. I totally need a wrinkle reverser!!!

    1. Mix it in. Im like you , I never heard of this collagen powder until about a month ago. It sounded healthy so Im gonna give it shot.

  6. Sounds like a great way to get some extra collagen.

  7. Very interesting . . . I knew none of this.

  8. That's interesting. And the pancakes look delicious. I love anything with oatmeal, Yummy.

I hope the new year is being good to you.
