A Date with a Book

During literacy month, my workplace did a fun little activity called “A date with a book”.

Whoever wanted to participate put their name in with a little info about themselve and what kind of books they like to read. Once everyone put there name in, we were paired with someone else that enjoyed the same genre of books.

What we each had to do was get a used or new book to wrap up and decorate. The wrapping suppose to hold hints to what the book is about. At the end of the week, we met our person and swapped our books.

Here is the book I wrapped for my person.

The book was title “City of Girls”. This novel took place in New York. It’s about a girls journey of self-discovery and embracing freedom, so I decorated it with some girly things and some hints of the book. My person also mentioned that she had read over 40 books this year, so I printed out some library card inspired slips so she can list her readings. I like how it turned out.

In return, here is what the book she gave me looked like.

I thought it was neat how we ended up with the same wrapping ideas. Not everyone was as creative. We never officially met until the book swap. We only knew each other by names. We work in different departments on different floors. It was fun and not only did I get a new book to read and some goodies, I also made a new friend.
