Birthday 53

I turned 53 years old yesterday. My mind tells me I’m 23 but my body tells me otherwise.

My daughter came home this past weekend to start the celebration with me. My husband had to work so It was just me and her. She came to the house with a handful of surprises. One included this lemon cake.

We have been eating on it all weekend. I love any kind of cake and lemon is one of my favorite fruity flavors.
Gifts she got me included a My Pillow, a herb growing kit, and a hair brush.

Then she went with me to get a …….yes. A tattoo. I have been wanting a tiny white tattoo but was not sure where I wanted to put it. I decided to have it put on my finger. That’s weird because I said I would never have a tattoo on my hands. In fact, I though I was out of that faze of wanting tattoos. But like I said, my mind tells me I’m 23.

She was excited to take me to get it. She does not have any tattoos, nor does she want one. She almost got one in college but she looked at the long time effect of having something permanent on her skin. Smart girl.

Afterwards, we had lunch at McAllisters deli. We ate outside on the patio. We had a guest at the table. My daughter shared her lunch with him.

The evening turned bitter sweet when I got a call that my Aunt had just went to heaven. Though the news was sad, It also calls for celebration.
Not many people can have the peace in their heart knowing where a loved one goes after life. We could all still use your prayers.

Yesterday was my actual birthday and I had to go to work.
When I arrived, I walked into the office to see my work cubicle decorated with birthday banners, cards and few gifts.

It made me smile and all day long, everyone that walked by, wished me a happy birthday. It was a good day.

At the end of the day I come home to a nice steak dinner from my husband.  He gave me my birthday gift earlier this month. It was the Yeti bag you see in the picture above. I had been wanting one to carry my purse, lunch and other things I need for work.

Next weekend the celebrations continue at my mom and dads house. Mom will have May birthday dinner. I have a sister, brother and daddy that also celebrate a birthday in May.

Mothers Day 30

I hope everyone had a happy Mothers Day. This post is a day late because thats a reflection of about how my blogging has been goin lately. I really do hope to get better. Life has just been busy for me and I have fell into a rut thinking I can’t blog. Thinking it’s useless. I mean, who really cares about what I write. Everyone elses blog post are so much better. Blah blah blah. You know that feeling. I’m sure I’m not alone.

Anyway, on to Mothers Day.

Again, I hope everyone had a happy Mothers Day. Everyone is either a Mother or has a Mother either here or there. I love honoring my Mother. I need to do it more and not just on Mothers day. She is the best. She worked hard to raise us four kids.  She was tough. I know, because I was there. I am so glad that God chose her to me my Mom. She made sure we were always in church and school.
She is also one of the best seamstresses and dumpling maker you will ever meet.
I love her.

For me. This was my 30th Mothers Day.
My daughter came home for the weekend. She surprised me with a couple gifts and then we went out to breakfast before we headed to church. We ate at a little place in town called Eggs Up Grill. This was my 2nd time there. She wanted to give it a try. The have a big variety of plates on the menu.

We started off with Cappuccinos. She had the vanilla and I have the vanilla praline.

For breakfast, I ordered the waffle sandwich. It was a half of waffle stuffed with egg, cheese and bacon.

It also came with a side of home fries witch is basically hash Browns cut thick. We finished just in time to run back to the house to brush our teeth and head on to church. My house is a little over a mile from my church.

After church we had a lite bite at the house and then went out for doughnuts.
We ended the day with all of my family taking Mom out to supper. We had a good time.

1st Beach Trip of The Year

Finally! We were able to take a beach trip. It was just a short one, but we will be going again in June for a long weekend and then a whole week in August. I wish we could go more but work happens.

With my job I had to wait until I had been there for 9 months before I could take any vacation. That’s how long the probation period is. I made it. My husbands job is 7 days a week so it’s hard for him to get days off. We will manage.

We stopped half way down at our usual spot and grabbed some fresh garden tomatoes. They were so good. It’s hard to find good tomatoes now days. These were red juicy and sweet. We had the perfect tomato sandwiches on the beach.

The temperatures were in the high 70s and 80’s with a cool breeze. We did some walking and relaxing. I got in the ocean about knee deep. The water was cold but not too bad. We also walked a mile down the shore to visit my brother in law that lives at the next campground over from the one we stay at. It was a surprise since he did not know we were coming down. I grabbed an ice cream cone from the camping store to eat on the way back to our place.

It was also our 28th anniversary and we enjoyed some good food and fun. We are still so much in love. I can not imagine doing life with out this man. He spoils me. We rarely argue, and when we do, it turns into laughs. Through the years, we got good at understanding each others sarcasm and never stopped being each others boyfriend and girlfriend.

We paid for an extra night so we did not have to worry about signing out before noon on our leaving day. We spent the morning on the beach. Nick snapped a photo of me enjoy my coffee as I stood in the water one more time.

Later we had another tomato sandwich and left for home. It was a fun time and I can’t wait until we do it again next month.
