Daughter Day

Last week there was a day set aside as “National Daughters Day”. This special day is new to me because, well, I thought every day was daughters day.

For Christmas last year, my daughter had gotten me a gift certificate to Paddy Wax Candle Bar located in Charlotte. Due to covid restrictions, it was not until now that we were able to go. This was a cute little place nestled in the South End and located near restaurants and too close to the new Krispy Kreme tasting room which will be in my next post.

Before we went to make our candles, we stopped at a little Asian food place called Hawkers. We ordered a noodle bowl from the small plate menu and shared some Summer rolls and Tofu.

Summer Rolls- Rice noodles, lettuce, basil and mint.

Fried Tofu with peppers, onions and broccoli in a brown sauce.

After a nice little mother/daughter lunch, we made our way to the candle bar as the rain danced on our head.

I love candles and could not wait to get started. There were eleven of us in the class.
First we listened to the instructor explain what we will be doing and the examples of different types of vessels we could choose from. Then we all made our way to the huge wall of different shapes and colors and picked out our desired style.

Next we went to another wall full of fragrances to choose for our candle. This is where I am weak. I can never decide on a candle smell. Everything smells so good. I finally decided on “Bamboo Green Tea”. It had a fresh clean scent. My daughter picked more of a Fall scent that made you feel like your sitting around a campfire.

Once our choices were made, we began to make our candles with the help from the instructor and que cards that told exactly how much fragrance and hot wax to apply according to the size of candle vessel we chose.

Our candles were not ready for a few hours and we have 30 days to pick them up. You can see what mine will look like from the photo above. My daughter will go back and pick them up and bring it to me later. I can’t wait.

We had a great day, but it is never enough time together.

Storm Front

I'm one of those people that love thunder storms. We do not have a threat of falling trees on our house, which I'm sure helps with the enjoyment and peace each storms brings. During a thunder storm, we will sometimes pull out the folding chairs and sit under the carport just to feel the breeze and listen to the sounds of the rain and thunder.

When I chose a candle from Goose Creek Candles, I immediately fell for the fragrance of  "Storm Front". This large jar candle has dual wicks that quickly filled my home with the sweet aroma of a breezy Summer storm.

There is just something about the sound, smell and that little bit of fear mixed with a cozy feeling a Summer storm gives. Just like fresh outside air, with Goose Creek Candles I never have to worry about breathing in harmful toxins. Each candle is lead free and burns clean. This also means the candle jar, walls or ceilings will not turn black with residue like most candles can leave behind.

These candles are made with premium paraffin that is highly scented.
The prominent scents of this Storm Front candle give you the best mix of aroma as they are all combined in the perfect combination of layers.

Top: Orange, White Peach, and Red Pineapple.
Mid: Crisp Apple, Jasmine and Lavender.
Base: Cedarwood, Sandalwood, and Amber.

Goose Creek Candles has over 100 different scents to choose from to fit any occasion or mood.
You can also shop with confidence as these are made right here in the USA.

Oui Pot Crochet Hangers

Often you will find me sitting in the center of the living room organizing my yarn basket. While most crochet addicts have a whole closet of yarn, I just have a little square storage cube type basket. It works perfect to hold the yarns I need and fits perfectly beside me chair.

I do not stock up on yarn. I buy as I go. It gives me an excuse to visit Hobby Lobby. Most of you can relate. However, I do wind up with a lot of smalls balls of yarn that are not big enough to make a full project. I will normally roll into what I call my scrap ball and will eventually use it to make a crazy multi colored scrap blanket.

I keep my acrylic yarn and cotton yarn separated. Cotton is my favorite fiber to crochet with. I like to keep scraps of cotton yarn to make small things like baby teethers, face wipes or coasters but I found something new to make with my scrap pieces.

Oui Pot Crochet Hangers

I am obsessed in these cute little crochet hangers. I'm thinking of adding some to my Etsy shop. They are just so darn cute. Can you imagine some cute little succulents in them? Oh my!

I have several Oui yogurt glass jars. Oui is a French yogurt by Yoplait and is delicious. You can find them at most grocery stores in the yogurt section and are usually only a dollar each and have several flavors to choose from. I always keep a few of these empty glass pots in the cabinet because they make great candle holders, and plant starters. You can actually purchase special lids from the Oui website if you want to use them to store things. They also have some other crafty ideas you can use these little pots for.

These crochet hangers are quick and easy. The original pattern can be found HERE.

Coffee Shop with Goose Creek Candle

One of my favorite things is the scent of fresh coffee brewing in the mornings. There is just something about the warm aroma of coffee beans filling the air while I sip from a warm mug.

I was excited to receive a new candle. Now I can enjoy the fragrance of coffee anytime of the day with this “Coffee Shop” dual wick large candle from Goose Creek Candles

Goose Creek Candles are high in fragrance with a clean burn. I never have to worry about breathing harmful chemicals in the air and each candle is lead free. Clean burn also means the candle glass will not turn black and there is no residue to worry about getting on walls and ceilings.

In a  matter of minutes, my room was smelling like a coffee shop. I could smell the combination of Coffee beans, warm mocha and Hazel nut. The burn time on these large candles are approximately 150 hours and never lose their scent like most other candles. This means the last hour of burning will be as fresh as the first hour.

Best Wax Melts

I few months ago I purchased a cute little electric wax burner for my work office. I'm not a fan of burning candles in my office because of fire hazards in the work place so this works perfect.
(It's not dirty it's just painted that way).

Once again I logged into my favorite candle shop "GooseCreek Candles". They offer more than just great smelling clean candles, but they also have the best wax melts.

With over 120 different fragrances in the wax melts. It always takes me a while to decide on the one I want.

I have enjoyed almost all of the ones I've tried, but my favorite so far is the "Frozen In Time". It has a clean scent that is not too sweet or floral. There is just something about this one that works well with my allergies. Combinations of vanilla peppermint, frosted grapefruit, citrus, and frozen snowdrops give off an aroma that's comfortable on my sinuses and make me feel warm and cozy all day.
Now if I can figure out how they got the frozen snowdrops in there. ha.

These wax melts/tarts are better than any other brand you can get from a local store. They never lose there scent and stay strong for 50 to 80 hours. I will turn my wax burner off at the end of my shift and simply turn it back on the next day. One melt will last me all week. Everyone that walks into my office wants to sit and stay awhile just to soak in the good smell.

Goose Creek candles and wax melts are made right here in the USA with high quality fragrance that do not include any chemicals. You can to relax in your home or office without worrying about your health.

Each wax melt container comes with 6 wedges ready to use. They are inexpensive and shipping is quick. What are you waiting for? Go check them out today.

Welcome Frosty-Candle Review

The weather finally dropped last week and we had a day of snow. However, it's been in the 60’s again this week. That did not stop me from welcoming Frosty with my new candle from Goose Creek Candles.

Welcome Frosty quickly filled my home with a fresh Winter scent. The mix of vanilla, butter cream, fresh peach, sandalwood, and coconut with a hint of spice quickly filled the room with the aroma of fresh snow. Even my husband likes this candle and he is picky about fragrances I use in our home.

I am overwhelmed with how well these candles smell. The duel cotton wicks burn even so there are not holes or low spots in my candle. I can also breath a breath of fresh air knowing these candles burn clean without any chemicals getting into the air or on materials in my home. This also means I do not have to worry about my candle glass turning black. No one wants a dirty candle.

After realizing how great the candles are, I decided to purchase a couple of the Goose Creek wax melts from the their wax melt collection. I use wax melts at work to keep my office fresh. I will usually get them from a local store and I thought those were fine, until I tried the ones from Goose Creek.

I chose “Cucumber Rain” and “Blooming Magnolia”. These are absolutely the best and I will never go back to any other brand. I get a lot of compliments on how great my office smells now and everyone that comes in, wants to stay and sit a while.

I will be getting more of these wax melts soon. The hardest part is trying to decide on a new aroma as they offer over 120 different fragrances. They also have rooms sprays, car scents, and tea lights along with other great products.

So if you want a fragrance in the air true to smell, visit Goose Creek Candles. They are made right here in the USA. With great prices and fast delivery, you can't go wrong.

Peppermint -Goose Creek Candle

It’s that time of year to start thinking about the sweet smells of Christmas. When Goose Creek candles asked me to choose a scent from their jar candle collection, I was overjoyed. The decision was not easy as they had so many different fragrances to choose from.

With Christmas just around the corner, I chose the fresh scent of Peppermint. I mean, you do know that Peppermint is the pumpkin spice of Christmas, right?

My candle arrived quickly and was neatly packed to prevent any damages. I immediately took it out of the box and placed it on my kitchen table. Within ten minutes of lighting it, I could already smell the sweet scent of peppermint. The room was soon filled with the aroma of Christmas.

These candles are made right here in the USA by a family owned business you can trust. I can rest assure knowing I am not breathing any toxins in the air as they do not use any harmful chemicals in there candles. This also means I do not have to worry about black residue on my jar or walls.

One of the reasons I really like this candle is how it has duel wicks that are made with 100% cotton which gives this candles a long lasting, even burn. I love using candles in my home especially while I am cooking or expecting company. It’s hard to find a good candle now days. I want my candles to be more than just a pretty flicker of light. Goose Creek candles didn’t let me down. I look forward to using more of their fragrant candles in the future.
