Homemade Doughnuts

Yes. I have been bad tonight. First I skip my zumba class because I simply didn't want to go and then I made a mess of home-made doughnuts. I found the idea on this new thing that pretty much has taken over my life, called Pinterest. I got the step by step instructions from this blog called littlebitfunky and I give it all the credit. Hers are a lot prettier than mine but I bet mine tasted just as good.
However. I did just a few things extra...

I got a can of 8 grand biscuits and cut a hole in the center with a cookie cutter.
With the hole dough, I was able to use an even smaller cookie cutter and make smaller doughnuts and with the hole dough from those, I made, well, doughnut holes.
I just fried them in grease on each side and dipped them in butter and cinnamon sugar.

I did some in cinnamon/sugar and some in powdered sugar. Oh yum.
As much as I like powdered sugar, I think the cinnamon is best. My diet was definitely on halt for this, but after eating one.....Ok I ate tw....three, I will get back to the diet thing tomorrow.

Update: The next morning I felt guilty so I googled the calories in a Pilsbury Grand buscuit and one has 170 calories.  With the hole cut out, that basically took away half the buscuit therefore making one of the larger doughnuts here being only 85 calories and less for the small doughnut and even less for the doughnut hole. So, that makes me feel a little better.

  4. Unfortunately, that is the calorie count before frying. ;)
These will be made in my kitchen very very soon.
